Description
Family Protection & Rehabilitation Centre for Women (FPRCW) Islamabad, is a subordinate office of the Ministry of Human Rights Islamabad. It has been working from last 18 years successfully. FPRCW is protecting and promoting Women Rights and also empowering women. The victim of violence can share their sufferings in strict confidentiality through psyche-social counseling. The FPRCW have a separate unit called shelter Home. The Shelter Home are committed to offering support to victim of violence round the clock. The FPRCW have all trained and professional staff.
Objectives and mandate of Family Protection and Rehabilitation Centre
The long term and short term objectives of the Family Protection and rehabilitation Centre for Women are.
Long-term objectives:
To protect women against violence of all kinds.
To eliminate all forms of discrimination against women.
Short-term objectives:
To provide temporary Shelter/accommodation to victims of violence in emergencies.
To provide medical/first aid.
To provide free legal assistance/aid.
To liaise with agencies competent authority agencies to redress grievances of women at individual and collective levels, especially those concerned with combating violence against women (VAW).
Eligibility for Services (Shelter):
All female survivors of gender-based violence, and any accompanying children, will be eligible for services, except for:
Male children over 10 Years.
Unaccompanied female children under 10 years.
These children may be temporarily accommodated in the facility and further will be referred to children’s facilities (government/private) e.g. Child Protection Centers in Punjab, and state orphanages such as should be to identify children’s facilities closer to the shelter and furthermore the process of transfer and details will be explained to the mother and the child.
